Katy Keene trailer: See Lucy Hale in Riverdale spin-off show!
So what can you expect about this show? It is one that is set in New York and, because of that, it’s about big dreams and trying to make them happen. Lucy Hale is going to star as the title character, a woman working to be a designer to the best of her ability. She deals with rejection, she gets hurt, but she is still desperate to keep fighting and never wants to give up.
Meanwhile, the other big selling point for this series is getting a chance in order to see Josie (Ashleigh Murray) get more of the spotlight. She’s going to be coming over to this show from Riverdale and here, she is going to do whatever she can in order to ensure that she makes it big there as a recording artist — and she even strikes it up big with a recording artist in the process.
Beyond Katy and Josie, Katy Keene is going to feature several other new characters and give you a series that feels bright, vibrant, and perhaps a little more cheery than most of what we saw in Riverdale. It almost feels like a combination of Sex in the City and that part of Glee where Rachel was in New York City working in order to ensure she became a success on Broadway. It’s got a sense of humor in here, but also some legitimate struggle.
More than anything, though, it’s about Katy Keene. We’re talking about an iconic character from within the comic-book world — she may not have the same devoted following that Archie does, but we feel like most of the characters who enjoy Riverdale are going to also want to check this out. This marks Hale’s second foray into The CW following her short-lived series Life Sentence and tonally, the two shows feel reasonably similar. You just have to hope that this one manages to accumulate more of an audience right away. At least we know that as of late, the network has done a great job giving their shows opportunities to build their audience over time.
