Absentia season 3 casting news: Ross O’Hennesy comes aboard!

Even though Absentia has still not technically been renewed for a season 3 over on Amazon, consider this yet another reminder that the series is coming back for more. Pending some shocking development, a renewal feels like a formality.

In a new post on Twitter, Ross O’Hennesy was announced by his management as a new addition to the upcoming season. As far as the role he will be playing, that’s one of those situations where we can’t share too much just because there isn’t much known! We’ve got a name at the moment and that’s it: Macleod. Is this going to be one of those one-name situations where the character is never known as anything more than that? If that is the case, we wonder if this character ends up being some sort of sinister villain or the like.

Absentia season 3 is going to be filming for much of the remainder of the year, and provided that it keeps a similar timeline to what it had for the second season, we imagine that it will be premiering on Amazon next summer and then in the spring in some other parts of the world. There’s already a ton of mystery already out there about the story of season 3, given the shocking way that season 2 ended. (Spoilers ahead.) With Alice Durand now seemingly dead, where does the rest of the story go? How do we see some of these characters like Flynn and Nick move forward? There’s this emotional component, and beyond that there is a mystery component given that Emily will probably be tasked with another dangerous case — they are her MO. Given that she’s been through what she has in her life, she’s got an understanding of darker storylines and corners of the universe like very few other people do.

We’re sure that we’ll get at least another tease or two on Ross O’Hennesy and his potential role at some point from now until the third season premieres. We gotta get that official renewal first!
