Euphoria episode 8 (finale) preview: ‘And Salt the Earth Behind You’

What’s coming up on Euphoria episode 8? Let’s start things off with this: It is the final episode of the season! Prepare yourselves for a big, dramatic hour that will (hopefully) leave no stone unturned. We want to know everything that there is to know about where Rue and some of these other characters are right now. We don’t expect that every little storyline will be resolved, but we want to make sure that the creative team circles back and looks at most of the important stuff.

For the second straight week, though, HBO isn’t giving you too much in the way of information leading into the episodes airing. Instead, what we’ve got is simply this: The title of “And Salt the Earth Behind You.” This is one of those titles where during the finale, you’ll start to understand what it means precisely … but it’s hard to speculate about it too much in advance.

What we know entering the finale is that 1) there is a lot of big stuff for the writers to tie together and 2) we’re imagining that there will be some sort of suggestion as to what season 2 could look like. HBO’s already ordered another batch of episodes, so you don’t have anything to worry about when it comes to that. The main mystery that remains is how we will get to those new episodes. We could end up leaving this season worried about some characters — in a different way that we have so far.

At least we know this entering the finale — enthusiasm for Euphoria is just as much there as it’s always been. There are few shows that tend to keep the majority of their audience the entire season, but this is one of them! That suggests that it could actually post record ratings for itself in the finale, as some of the devoted DVR viewers are going to want to watch to ensure that they don’t anything spoiled for them in advance.

Even the promo for the finale failed to give away many specifics — but there will be a violent situation, a hospitalization, and characters exploring insecurity perhaps more than ever.
