The 100 season 6 episode 11 sneak peek: Bellamy’s negotiation
For Bellamy, we know that he is out to do one thing in this episode: Lower the shield at any cost. The problem is that it’s not easy for him –he’s not a nightblood. Meanwhile, some others are and he finds himself wondering this — why isn’t he getting the help that he feels he deserves? Why isn’t there a little more support coming his way?
This all comes back to decisions, something that Bellamy knows very well already. He’s someone who has made the choice to sacrifice many people before in exchange for the lives of the few, so he understands more than anyone some of what the ramifications of losing some in order to help others. His audacity and recognition of sacrifice gives him a leg up as a leader sometimes, but it doesn’t in this scene. When he’s dealing with those who have different views, sometimes there’s not all that much you can say. Sometimes, you have to cut your losses and recognize that if you want the shield lowered, you’re going to need to find a different way (or a different nightblood).
While you watch some of Bellamy’s actions within this episode, there is an added excitement that comes from knowing that Bob Morley is the man behind the camera. With this being his directorial voice, he’s going to find his way to paint his character as this flawed hero who has done tough things for the sake of the greater good. Or, the perception of the greater good. This remains a world now with a different value set than his own.
For a fantastic performance from Morley, you don’t have to look any further than this episode. The same goes for getting to see some meaty stuff for Clarke as her own character again. Remember when the writers were trying to convince us through these episodes that Clarke as a character wasn’t there anymore?
