Who’s the best Arrowverse hero? Sara Lance, Caitlin Snow, John Diggle, J’onn J’onzz

Arrowverse

With many shows in the Arrowverse already at work for the new season, all of us at CarterMatt thought today would be a good time for us to bring you a fun new series! Through the next few weeks, we’re going to have a fun little tournament for everyone all based around one simple question: Who is your favorite hero of 2019?

Let’s start by noting this — there are many different definitions of a hero within the Arrowverse. They don’t always need an alter ego or a comic-book costume in order to make their presence felt. What matters most is what they do for their world around them — we like to think that they’re out to make everyone feel a little bit healthier and safer!

We’re going to be focusing on sixteen different characters throughout this series (four from Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow) and today, this piece is all about Sara Lance, Caitlin Snow, John Diggle, and J’onn J’onzz. At the bottom of this article is a poll for you to vote for your favorite! Two will be moving on to the next round.

Voting Rules – Voting will remain open until Wednesday, July 17 at 3:00 p.m. Pacific time; the advancing heroes will take part in round 2, which will also begin on July 17. You can vote however often you’d like; for more technical information if you’re having issues, check out the bottom of this article.

Sara Lance, Legends of Tomorrow – We’re not sure that there is any other hero within the Arrowverse who has had anywhere near the sort of journey that Sara has. Just think in terms of what she’s been through, whether it be her surviving on Arrow, dying, coming back to life through the Lazarus Pit, and now becoming the team leader of the Legends and someone unafraid to open up to Ava. She’s one of the most nuanced and layered heroes that the Arrowverse has.

Caitlin Snow, The Flash – Caitlin’s worked through plenty of her own demons and struggles in the past on her CW series, especially with her and Killer Frost struggling to maintain a good relationship. What makes Caitlin so special is that she’s more than just a hero in that she fights to save the lives of Central City; she’s also transformed Killer Frost into a hero in her own right. For Danielle Panabaker, she now has the opportunity to play double-duty as two different characters with often the same goal.

John Diggle, Arrow – There’s been a lot to love with Diggle from the get-go, long before he even even adopted the name of Spartan and had a more traditional costume. He’s a guy who packs a lot of passion into what he does and also is willing to go the extra mile — even if that means stepping into the Green Arrow costume himself! Without Diggle, Oliver Queen’s journey wouldn’t be what it is — we’re not even sure that he would still be alive.

J’onn J’onzz, Supergirl – Finally, let’s turn the man otherwise known as Martian Manhunter — he’s as intelligent and empathetic as they come and through the past four seasons, we’ve seen him develop a stronger sense of self, find more of his inner identity, and even spend time with his father. We never expected Martian Manhunter to appear when this show first began and he’s been a delightful surprise within this world.

Now, let’s turn this to you

Who is your favorite Arrowverse hero in this batch? Be sure to share in the comments, and come back soon for some more updates.

I can’t see the poll; what do I do? – If you are on mobile, scroll to the bottom of the page and click to view the non-AMP version. If that does not work, give the poll a moment to load! On some mobile browsers, it may take a moment.

How can I vote more than once? – If you are having trouble casting multiple votes, try switching your browser, your device, or visiting the page under private browsing or incognito mode. There should be many handy guides online explaining how to do so if interested.
