‘The Vampire Diaries’ season 4 spoilers: Nina Dobrev’s Elena is growing up…
We are already seeing a rather different side of Nina Dobrev’s Elena Gilbert on season 4 of “The Vampire Diaries,” and based on what we are hearing now, it is only going to continue. As a vampire, we are going to see a number of changes to the character as her emotions are heightened and she tries to figure out how to handle such ritualistic activities like drinking blood; in addition to all of that and the continuation of a confusing romantic subplot, she also is going to have a little bit of an evolved sense of style.
So juts how important is this really going to be? Speaking as a part of a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, costume designer Leigh Leverett had the following to say:
“We’re giving her a slightly more sophisticated look … She had to wear the Vervain necklace before, so she didn’t get to wear a lot of good fun jewelry. Of course [Nina Dobrev] likes that because she loves jewelry.”
Sadly, Leverett did not answer the question that is really on the mind of every fan of the hit show out there: how in the world does this girl manage to afford all of her gowns for some of the lavish balls that these characters attend? We know that we have to ask people to suspend belief a little bit since we are looking at a television shows here, but admittedly that is not always the easiest thing in the world to do. Really, what we are more interested in hearing through these comments is that Elena is starting to move more and more into adulthood, and this could lead to us seeing someone who is far more independent and a little less reliant on a few certain vampires for help.
Do you appreciate Elena’s style, or is this really one of the last things in the world that you try and think about?
