City on a Hill episode 3 preview: Hunt for an informant

When City on a Hill episode 3 comes on Showtime next week, there are a lot of different things you’re going to have a chance to check out … with circumvention of rule being fairly high up on the list. You’re going to have a chance to see within this episode a lot of searching, whether it be searching for clues, searching for rules, or simply searching for someone who is missing in action. When it comes to Jackie, for example, you’ll be seeing him during this episode doing whatever he can to find his informant, who has apparently gone MIA and it could take a little bit of time in order to track them down. Meanwhile, Decourcy is still working on trying to find a way to make sure that he can actually do his job — a novel concept, but the truth is that it’s hard sometimes for prosecutors in this era to get any of the information that they want. Clearly, nobody wants to talk within this town when it could get them in trouble!

Jackie searches for his absent informant; Jenny revisits her passion to become a teacher; Decourcy works up a plan to overcome the town’s infamous “Code of Silence” and get a few suspects to talk; Jimmy skips town to visit his kids.

What has us excited about what is coming up in this episode is the opportunity that it provides to showcase some different layers to who some of these people are. We feel like we know them coming out of the opening part of the series, but we don’t know them fully yet. There are still a myriad of ways in which they could be tested further, and some different outcomes that could end up coming their way. There’s a lot for anyone out there who is intrigued by these characters to watch out for, but we are still waiting for that big, earth-shattering moment where our expectations are somewhat altered and everything starts to feel a little bit different. This is a show that still does have an opportunity to break the mold for what a Boston-set police/legal drama is. It’s going to have all of the resources in the world thanks to it airing where it is.
