Big Brother 21 spoilers: A new twist tease; full house tour

Big Brother

Big Brother 21 is set to premiere on CBS come Tuesday night, but you don’t have to wait any longer to get a complete look at the house!

This week, the network did something a little bit unusual when it comes to their house tour — they actually broke it up into different parts! You had a chance to see a part of it via Entertainment Tonight yesterday and now, you can see the full house tour below via the show’s official Twitter account. Julie Chen Moonves takes you through some of the various bedrooms of the house, including also the campfire-inspired dining room and also bedrooms themed around various aspects of summer camp. It’s clear after looking at this what the producers were going for — a celebration of the great outdoors and a nostalgic part of many people’s lives. It’s funny in a way that Big Brother has recently embraced technology designs more (even the past Big Brother Canada had a high tech secret agent feel to it); yet, this time around they’ve flipped that on its head.

For those who wanted to see the return of the rock wall (it did actually kinda fit the theme), that’s not happening. The photo above is just one look at the new design.

Now, here’s where things get a little bit more interesting — in a statement today, Allison Grodner and Rich Meehan (show executive producers) confirmed that there will be a new twist coming your way in season 21. Here’s some of what they had to say:

“Nothing says summer quite like camping! … And just like camp, this season will be full of adventure, fun and challenges and an unexpected twist that will rock the house, forcing the Houseguests to rethink how they play the game.”

Is this the producers confirming that this twist is going to follow along the duo concept that has been rumored the past few days? Hardly, but we still think that the theme for the house does lean heavily into that. Whether you want to call it having bunkmates or the Buddy System or anything else that feels like summer camp, it does feel as though we’re going to have something that really defines the early days of this season.

So what could the twist be? It’s possible that for the first couple of weeks we’ll see the players pair up in duos and are nominated together. Or, maybe there are four nominees (two different duos), they compete in a challenge, and only one duo remains on the block after the fact. (The latter feels more likely, given that the former sounds too much like Big Brother 13.) The only reason that we’re so transfixed on duos in the first place is because of at least one set of players knowing each other, if not more.

What do you think the central twist of Big Brother 21 could be? Let us know right away in the comments. (Photo: CBS.)
