A Double Shot at Love episode 11 review: Vinny, Pauly D meet the families

Double Shot at Love

Tonight on A Double Shot at Love episode 11, it was clear we were entering the home stretch of this — you don’t bring parents in otherwise!

At the heart of tonight’s new episode was an opportunity to see Pauly D and Vinny meet some of the family members of their female suitors. The competition was getting progressively more and more intense, especially since Vinny and Pauly still have some competition between each other. The two were both into Elle, and that’s probably one of the most fascinating parts of all of this. The potential in-laws did cause a little bit of drama — but honestly, not as much as we were expecting, all things considered. We have to imagine that it’s not all that easy learning that your daughter is on a reality show potentially dating guys that are fairly easy to stereotype. Vinny and Pauly are more than their reality TV personas — but they are also still ridiculous and you can’t just forget about that. They have crazy lives and you have to be prepared for that.

Probably the most notable moments of the entire meet-the-family segment came as follows:

Nikki’s cousin – He was the only person who came for her, and we know that this was a really emotional thing for her. She wanted to feel like she was properly represented by her family and that the guys could get to know her life. Unfortunately, we’re not so sure that her cousin helped with that by proclaiming that she’s had a tendency to be a little clingy in the past. That’s something that Vinny was already very aware of. Clearly, Nikki was more into Pauly, so he could see that a little bit more from a Wingman point of view.

Brittnay’s father – This dude was terrifying. Not only that, but he came at the guys from a place of aggression, noting all of the ways that they were different as opposed to all of the ways that they could be similar. It’s okay to have reservations, but we don’t actually think you can start a relationship by being this intimidating immediately. That never goes well.

Who was sent home?

Alas, we said goodbye to Brittnay tonight — she came across as someone who actually was interested in finding someone, but it just didn’t seem like Vinny and Pauly were connecting with her in terms of life experience. It’s weird in a way given that she’s pretty close to Vinny’s age — yet, there just wasn’t a connection from a lifestyle point of view.

CarterMatt Verdict

If we had to guess, we think that Vinny and Maria are going to be together at the end — there’s just this strange, awkward chemistry that the two have and it’s kind of endearing. Meanwhile, Pauly and Derryn still seem like they’ve got something going on — also, we kinda want to see Derryn there for the same of some of the drama.

This show is ridiculous — it’s lighthearted and silly, but there is still that part of you that wants to think that something could actually work on the other side of it. That’s the case even when you know it’s probably not going to happen.
