In the Dark episode 12 preview: Murphy’s complicated birthday

In the Dark

Next week, The CW is bringing you In the Dark episode 12 — an episode that should signify that we’re getting really close to the end of this season. The death of Tyson is leaving a mark, but beyond that so are some other feelings of loneliness and wondering whether or not everything is really worth it? Murphy’s probably been questioning herself a lot lately, and we think that this is a part of the show’s DNA. It’s about a difficult journey and the steps that are taken in order to ensure characters find their peace. Murphy’s going to be coming off of one of her hardest episodes tonight … but it’s not really getting any easier.

What’s the #1 reason for that? Well, it has a thing or two to do with her birthday. Through “Rollin’ with the Homies,” you’ll see her big celebration … or maybe lack thereof. There are few things worse than an unhappy birthday; it’s the day you most want to be around other people, and it’s frankly hard when you’re not. You want to be celebrated and told that your life has some meaning.

Below, CarterMatt offers up the official In the Dark episode 12 synopsis with more news as to what’s coming up next:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY – It’s Murphy’s (Perry Mattfeld) first birthday since Tyson (Thamela Mpumlwana) was killed and she is feeling more isolated than ever. Brooke Markham, Derek Webster, Kathleen York, Keston John, Thamela Mpumlwana and Casey Deidrick also star. Janice Cooke directed the episode written by Flint Wainess & Yael Zinkow (#112). Original airdate 6/20/2019.

As for if this episode will bring you more answers … probably not. There is no reason for The CW to hurry things along when it comes to the big finale later this month. The title for that episode is “It’s Always Been You,” which is the sort of thing that sounds romantic — even if it’s not. This is still where Murphy’s adventure can come to a halt. Maybe there will be a cliffhanger-of-sorts after the fact for the upcoming second season.

Fun In the Dark fact!

This show films in Toronto (where we lived for a while), and we’ve already heard that the eleventh episode filmed in some massively below-freezing temperatures north of the border last Thanksgiving (Toronto gets insanely cold!). That means that the finale likely filmed in early December when temperatures up there weren’t exactly anything to write home about. With all of this in mind, go ahead and give the cast and crew ALL the credit for being so brave to go out and work in those conditions for the sake of giving you a good story. Let’s just hope there’s a chance for more people to discover them before the second season premieres. (Odds are, it’ll be back in the spring of next year.)
