Supernatural season 15: Could Jeffrey Dean Morgan return?

As we get closer to the Supernatural season 15, you have to think that we’re going to see a lot of the story move towards some curtain calls. We’re going to be interested in seeing precisely how some of these faces from the past come back — some of the more nefarious ones could surface due to what Chuck did. As for the others … well, that could take some more creativity.

For the sake of this article, let’s talk in particular Jeffrey Dean Morgan — this is a man who is always going to be at the center of speculation just because John Winchester is iconic. Without him, the show’s legacy wouldn’t be what it is. Morgan appeared in the 300th episode “Lebanon” this past season, and there’s going to be enthusiasm to get him back one last time.

Yet, there are no assurances that this is going to happen — for some more speculation on that very subject, just take a look at what series star Jared Padalecki had to say to TVLine:

“I think the boys got the closure they needed … As a fan of the show, I’d always love [Jeffrey Dean Morgan] to come back. But if he doesn’t come back, I think it was… It’s almost like when Bobby died. It made me sad as a fan of the show and as somebody who loves Jim Beaver, but it was great television. And it was what the story needed.”

Sometimes, coming back after closure is established isn’t necessarily great — it’s often better to have a memorable exit and that’s it. We’d love to see Jeffrey again as a fan of him as an actor, but if there’s no specific purpose for it, we wouldn’t be shocked if the show just moves forward and focuses on other characters within the final season.

Also, we certainly understand that Morgan is a pretty busy guy these days. He is still a series regular over on The Walking Dead and when he’s not working on that show, we’re pretty sure that he does want to be able to spend some sort of time with his friends and family. That is one of the issues that Supernatural could be coming up against when it comes to guest casting for much of their final season — so many different actors who have appeared on the show are off doing other things.
