Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 11 preview: Jane, Rafael’s next move

Jane the Virgin season 4

Jane the Virgin may be a series about many things, but changes is probably far up on that list. We’ve seen these characters go through plenty of highs and lows, different relationships, heartbreaks, and happiness. It’s been a major trend for much of the series, and it is also one we don’t foresee stopping at any point through what’s left … not as though the show has all that much time to tell further stories, either. The writers just have to seize the moment, make us feel happy that these characters are moving into the right direction, but also still present some drama as well.

With us so far near the end of the season, it does make sense that we now talk for a moment or two about legacy, or about how this series could ultimately end. We know that the standard soap-opera trope is to just keep these as crazy as possible, but one thing that soaps rarely do is conclude. Jane the Virgin is technically a comedy, so we’re hoping this is a sign that we’re getting a chance to see some joy. They’ve been through enough, and we don’t necessarily see the merit of ending this show in a way in that leaves people upset or stressed out that there are viewers out there upset. Why not let Jane, Rafael, and others end up being happy? Why not have Xo not have as much to worry about when it comes to her life?

Below, CarterMatt has the official Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 11 synopsis, just in case you do want to score some other insight:

PHASES – With Jorge (guest star Alfonso DiLuca) officially moved into Alba’s (Ivonne Coll) house with his stuff, it quickly has changed the dynamic, making Jane (Gina Rodriguez) to uncomfortable. Rafael (Justin Baldoni) and Jane work on their co-parenting of Mateo now that they have a potential way to help Mateo. Rogelio (Jaime Camil) has a new set of unexpected problems arise on set with River (guest star Brooke Shields). Meanwhile, Xo (Andrea Navedo) is nervous about her last PET scan and what the results could show. Leo Zisman directed the episode written by Liz Sczudlo (#511). Original airdate 6/5/2019.

Where we think this show can go from here is in a direction of (relative) stability. We don’t think that we need to see Jane the Virgin suddenly lock every character into a specific future, but there’s nothing wrong with allowing us to at least feel as though certain lives are moving forward in a way where they don’t have to deal with so many jaw-droppers time and time again. (Take, for obvious example, characters coming back from the dead.)
