NCIS: Los Angeles season 10 episode 23 video: Harm’s big scene!

Harmom Rabb Jr.

As you await Sunday night’s NCIS: Los Angeles season 10 episode 23, there is obviously one key even that is high on the priority list: Getting a chance to see David James Elliot back on the series as Harmon Rabb, Jr. — his character from JAG. How could it not be?

Basically, who we are talking about here is a walking television icon, one of the most-popular characters on a series that defined a part of TV history. We also haven’t seen him in a good decade and a half. Harm’s life, though, has gone on since that time, and in the sneak peek below, that is made very much clear. This preview is all about Sam and Callen meeting him for the first time and just about every single thing about this is PERFECT — just think in terms of the music, or the way that Harm comes out of his aircraft and takes his helmet off. How do you not have some chills down your spine the moment that the iconic JAG music starts playing in the background.

Everything within this preview feels like a love letter to JAG and while we’ve seen some characters from this show across the NCIS franchise before, this obviously feels different. There’s something special in the air. Maybe a part of this is CBS gauging enthusiasm for a possible revival down the road, but if that happens we certainly don’t envision it happen anytime soon. We’re not getting the sense that this is something being talked about for the fall schedule or anything of the sort.

As for why we are seeing Harm now, it’s clear from this preview that Sam and Callen need his help. To be specific, they need to travel to the Persian Gulf to work with Harm aboard the USS Allegiance — there are some ISIS sympathizers out there who are targeting important military locations, and he is a valuable point of contact and someone who they’re going to need assistance from to make the world a little safer for men and women in uniform. Yes, this will be nostalgic and sentimental, but there is a larger purpose and motivation here. It’s one that carries through to the finale, where we get a chance in order to properly see Catherine Bell come back as her own character Mac. The JAG feels will be strong, but we’re sure that this episode is about more than just them. The NCIS: Los Angeles team will have their own stories beyond even what we know at present.
