Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 8 preview: What’s next for Jane, Rafael?

Want to know what’s coming up on Jane the Virgin season 5 episode 8? Well, prepare yourself for some emotional stuff when it comes to Jane and Rafael, mostly because of some recent events. They’re struggling to spend a lot of time together, and this is really one of those situations where desperate times are going to call for some desperate measures. To be specific, some of these desperate measures are now going to include Mateo.

This upcoming episode may allow for some sort of resolution with Jane and Rafael … or at least you have to hope so. Meanwhile, Rogelio’s going to be working more on his pilot — which we actually find incredibly ironic given that in real life at the moment, Jaime Camil is actually in the process of waiting to see if his new comedy pilot makes it to the air. We’ll probably find out for sure about that at some point next week.

WORKING OUT PROBLEMS – Jane (Gina Rodriguez) is having a hard time dealing with Rafael (Justin Baldoni) avoiding her, so when an issue with Mateo comes up she uses it to get some face time. Rogelio (Jaime Camil) turns to Jane for help when he learns his pilot is in trouble. Alba (Ivonne Coll) and Jorge (guest star Alfonso DiLuca) enlist Xo’s (Andrea Navedo) help to study for their upcoming immigration test. Meanwhile, Petra (Yael Grobglas) finally gets to the bottom of who has been terrorizing her. Zetna Fuentes directed the episode written by Katie Wech & Valentina L. Garza (#508). Original airdate 5/15/2019.

This is an episode that is going to have a lot of interesting stuff going on — some of it is comedic, but there’s also some other parts of it that may be highly dramatic. Look at things this way — there’s not that much time that is left in the show as a whole. There’s only so long for the writers to get to point A to point B on a number of different stories, and we certainly hope that the show finds a way to make it to a satisfying conclusion. We do want a chance to at least imagine that some of these characters are going to be moving forward to some element of a happy future after the fact.

Here’s the bad news

If you missed it earlier this week, reports came out that The CW is not moving forward with the spin-off show Jane the Novela. This effectively means that the series finale later this season really will mark the end of the road for this show and this world. That’s a bummer.
