Empire season 6 premiere date hopes for Terrence Howard, cast
Obviously, Empire has had itself a rather atypical run on television over the past few weeks, and you can really blame for a lot of it all of the Jussie Smollett headlines. It’s unavoidable to bring him up at this point, given that his name has been a part of just about every single story related to the show. Even when it was officially renewed for a season 6 a little bit earlier this spring, one of the big points that was made in the press release was a discussion all about how his contract was renewed, though it’s not clear still if he will ever return to the role of Jamal Lyon. (It feels unlikely that it will happen, at least for the immediate future.)
Regardless of what happens with Smollett, the show will go on — and on the other side of whatever happens with the big casket mystery tonight. (No spoilers here…)
As for when Empire season 6 could premiere, more than likely we’re going to see it back once more in the fall … and also in the same Wednesday-night timeslot that we’ve seen ever since it and STAR were first paired up. Why change things?
Ratings-wise, it’s abundantly clear that Empire is not the same show that it once was. It’s no longer dominant in the way in which it was a few years ago, but it’s still a premier show for Fox. That’s why keeping it on Wednesday is essential, as is premiering it in the fall. More than likely, we’ll see it make a landing at some point in late September or early October, air the first half of the season, and then come back for more in the spring.
Could this be the final season?
This is the question we find ourselves wondering more than any other right now, largely due to the fact that the numbers are down, we’re emerging through the Jussie scandal, and we certainly are aware that Empire is the sort of show that isn’t going to be going on forever. You’ve also got actors like Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard, who could be in demand for other projects.
While we’re not sure that we would say for certain at present if Empire season 6 is going to be the final season, we do think we’re at a point right now where the series starts to at least think about a little bit more.
