NBC’s ‘The Office’: Angela Kinsey could join Mindy Kaling on Fox with new pilot
With “The Office” inching ever closer to being over after nine seasons, many of its stars are starting to look ahead; and when that comes to Angela Kinsey, the actress is getting an opportunity now to start up something on the same network that Mindy Kaling has already migrated to with her new series “the Mindy Project” (which was recently granted a full-season order).
Sources have confirmed that Kinsey, who you know better as the callous and cat-loving Dunder-Mifflin account Angela Martin, would be working on a new Fox pilot project along with Rachael Harris (who already has connections to the network courtesy of an arc on “New Girl”) along with “Glee” co-executive producer Stacy Traub. The idea of the show would be rather simple, as its title would be “Dirty Blondes” and would revolve around a pair of women who became even better friends after going through the difficult trials and tribulations of a very nasty divorce.
So could a network bite on this project? At the moment, that is the essential question worth asking. One of the obvious benefits in doing a show like this is that you are going into it with a good bit of comedy experience already, and you know what works for you as an actor and as a person in the industry. The bad news? You have to push hard to market yourself as someone who is more than just a character on another show. While Kaling has been able to succeed with that so far, she has still yet to prove that “The Mindy Project” has the potential to be more than just a show with a good idea and a couple of good episodes.
Would you watch a show themed all around Kinsey?
