NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 23 preview: Pride, Lasalle’s journey begins

NCIS: New Orleans season 4 premiere

Next week, CBS is bringing you NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 23 and we can tell you one thing already: This is far from your ordinary episode. “The River Styx, Part 1” is carrying you into the finale, and it’s also going to feature some notable characters just about as far from New Orleans as humanly possible. Yet, Pride and Lasalle are still going to be off taking on a mission that had its roots back in the Big Easy, and that is trying to slow down the wicked spy network Apollyon who killed Pride’s father and have basically terrorized his life.

Obviously, all of this is going to be emotional — we just hope that eventually, there’s going to be closure. Given that this is a two-part finale, though, you certainly cannot hope to see it right away! It’s going to take a little bit of time before we get to whatever sort of powerful conclusion there is to this story.

Below, CarterMatt offers up the official NCIS: New Orleans season 5 episode 23 synopsis with some more news as to what’s coming:

“The River Styx, Part 1” – Pride and Lasalle travel to war-torn South Ossetia to locate FBI Special Agent Raymond Isler (Derek Webster), who was kidnapped during a failed mission to apprehend the leader of Apollyon, the underground spy network responsible for murdering Pride’s father, on NCIS: NEW ORLEANS, Tuesday, May 7 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.

Obviously, we want to the Apollyon investigate to yield some surprises, but also beyond that, a considerable amount of clarity. One of the easiest arguments to make against this storyline is that it’s too confusing, and that it’s still not entirely clear just what Pride is fighting and how he is going to get to the other side of it in one piece. The more clarity that starts to come in on this particular subject, the happier we’re going to be in the end.

Remember, though, that the biggest surprise may still be coming within the finale, given that this episode is the opportunity where you’re going to have a chance to see Pride’s mother on the show in some capacity. As for how she appears and what the central motivation for it is, this is something that we’re curious to see explored in a bit of a larger capacity.
