Agents of SHIELD season 6 premiere date, sneak peek revealed
As a part of their official WonderCon presentation today, the news came out that come Friday, May 10 at 8:00 p.m. Eastern time, you will have a chance to see some of your favorite heroes back in action! The cool news here is that this is a little bit earlier than we ever expected it to be. However, the bad news is that the show is still on Friday nights. Boo. We hoped that with the series going to the summer, there would be a chance for a better timeslot and potentially more available viewers. Fridays during the summer could prove to be a challenge, even if there’s not too much competition from other networks out there.
To go along with the big premiere-date announcement today, the fine folks over at ABC were kind enough to unveil the latest sneak peek — one that does set up the arrival of Clark Gregg’s bizarre, super-mysterious new character … who we know absolutely nothing about at the moment. The only thing that’s been seemingly confirmed about this guy is that he knows how to kill people (based on a pretty limited amount of footage) and that he’s got no recollection as to what SHIELD is. He makes that clear at the very end of the sneak preview. (Gregg is directing the premiere episode, further cementing that he isn’t going anywhere even if Coulson is, in fact, dead.) Mack seems to be in charge of SHIELD now, and with him running the show will probably come a different energy, but also much of the same philosophy. He’s learned from some of the best and there’s a reason why he is standing at the head of the table in the new photo above.
As for most everything else … let’s just say that there are a lot of mysteries at the moment. Because of Avengers: Endgame, we feel like ABC and Marvel are being all the more secretive as to what’s coming up story-wise across the board. They don’t want to be in a position where they accidentally say something about this show that spoils the movie or vice-versa, though we don’t really think they are too related. Our feeling mostly is that some of these characters could have vanished via Thanos but in skipping over the events of both this and Infinity War, the writers are making their jobs a little bit easier and not having to spend much time dealing with all of that. They’ve got their own story still to tell.
