Chicago PD season 6 episode 18 preview: Voight, Price’s peace summit

Entering Chicago PD season 6 episode 18, the good news is simply this: Ray Price is still alive! Despite being shot (on accident) during tonight’s installment, his heart is still beating and he’s going to be fighting for the good of Chicago — and also probably his ego, but every candidate has a little bit of that bubbling underneath the surface. Price does seem to have someone else in his corner in Voight, who has given him potential information to use whenever he wants. He may not think that he needs it — especially with the inevitable poll-number surge that’s likely to come after the shooting — but it may not be that way forever. Price can’t forget about any of the different advantages that he’s got tucked away under his cap…

So what is coming up over the course of this upcoming story? You are going to see Voight and Price work together — but it may not be directly related to the election itself. Instead, it may be something that indirectly helps with the election, though the tie isn’t altogether clear at first glance. 04/03/2019 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Wednesday) : With the threat of a gang war looming, Voight (Jason Beghe) and Ray Price (guest star Wendell Pierce) must organize a peace summit to end the bloodshed before more innocent people get hurt. Burgess (Marina Squerciati) evaluates her future with Blair (guest star Charles Michael Davis). TV-14 DLV

Here’s where Price and Voight play a dangerous game — trying to solve the gang problem in Chicago. It’s really this simple: If this was something that anyone could do, don’t you think that there was some sort of solution to it by now? Don’t you think that someone would’ve figured this out? The problem is that the gang situation is fluid. It changes. Allegiances change. Just because you arrive at something that feels like a situation in 2019 doesn’t mean that it will be there in 2020. The problem for Price is that in running for Mayor on a platform of bringing Chicago together, the expectations are going to be sky-high for him to figure this out. If he doesn’t, what that means is that in turn, he’ll be blamed for every single death that happens on these streets … and there will be plenty. It’s not going to stop, even if it does get a little bit better.

As for the status of Burgess and Blair, hopefully, there’s more to it this time around than Blair getting to try out some local cuisine. These two have some potential, but there are also clear problems — most notably Charles Michael Davis not being a regular which means that, in turn, there’s really only so much that we’re getting to see of him on this show. We feel like there’s a long, metaphorical graveyard for One Chicago relationships that end because someone’s got a commitment to another program that is out there.
