‘True Blood’ season 6 spoilers: Do we have our Warlow?
The sixth season of “True Blood” is not even going to start filming its ten episodes until early next year, but we have already found out a key piece of intel: the person who will be potentially playing the Big Bad as a series regular.
According to a new report from TVLine, former “Blade Runner” star Rutger Hauer is set to come on the show playing a dark, sinister, and (of course) mysterious figure known as Macklyn. The twist? He also has some ties to the family of Sookie and Jason Stackhouse.
As we said in the title, it’s almost impossible to do anything other than sit here and think that the Macklyn is really just some sort of alias for Warlow, the vampire responsible for taking away Sookie’s parents. Is this a sure thing, though? It’s also possible that he could also be playing a version of the character Niall from the books, as he possesses many of the same characteristics. Or, it’s also possible that Macklyn could be this character’s only name and we are in for something new and rather surprising.
The one thing we can say from our perspective? That this is the show’s best casting since Christopher Meloni as Roman. Hauer is an extremely underrated character actor who can play evil and/or weather characters, and this could end up being a combination of both. His presence does seem to ensure that regardless of who is he playing, the Stackhouse family will have something more to do other than just try to figure out why Bill Compton has turned into some sort of weird, blood-soaked vampire god.
