TV Madness 2019: Hawaii Five-0, Blindspot do battle in round 2!
Today, round two continues with Blindspot and Hawaii Five-0 each vying for a spot in the elite eight, and each one of them enters the fray here with a fighting spirit! Both are action-heavy crime-based shows that air on Friday night, and both have developed a passionate following over time. In the case of Hawaii Five-0, you have one of the night’s most-watched shows and a series that inspires you to escape from your life to beautiful sandy shores. With the other, you have one that throws you into a crazy mystery that gives us so many great discussions every week!
If you’ve taken part in CarterMatt’s TV Madness before, you likely know how this works — we spotlight the two competitors and then, on the other side of it, give you a poll for you to commence your voting! The poll is located at the bottom of this article.
How voting works – Vote however often you would like! (Technical instructions for multiple voting can be found right above the poll.) We will keep this poll open until Thursday, March 21 at 1:00 p.m. Pacific time. The winner of this battle will face off against one of four possible shows in Chicago PD, The Orville, Shadowhunters, and The Expanse — much of that depends on the results that unfold over the coming days.
You can see the full bracket (including start dates for each individual round) in the graphic at the top of this article.
The competitors
Hawaii Five-0 (#1 seed) – We knew that the remake of the classic series (which is very much a classic in its own right) had a great chance of getting to this point — it’s a #1 seed for a reason! Hawaii Five-0 excels on the basis of its storytelling, its performances, and its vibe. While you may see car chases and shootouts on other shows, none have the same exact sense of aloha style. It’s one of CBS’ most-stable hits for a reason — once you tune in to watch a single episode, odds are you aren’t going to stop watching anytime soon. It’s really addictive!
While Hawaii Five-0 is coming off of a dominant win over Legacies in the first round of the tournament, nothing can be taken for granted. It’s facing off against a serious competitor here in round two, and we’re curious to see how this showdown shakes out.
Blindspot (#5 seed) – One of the reasons why Blindspot is such a threat is because it is coming into this battle with a serious case of underdog mentality. Think about it — here we have a show that is currently on the cancellation bubble, and we know that fans are already doing what they can to rally for it to stick around. They’re mobilized in a way few other audiences are at this time of the year, and they have reason to rally — Blindspot is a great show! It gives you drama, it offers you some romance, and typically by the time the finale rolls around, it leaves you with so many lose threads that you have something fun to discuss while you wait for the next season.
Is Hawaii Five-0 an incredible opponent? Absolutely, but Blindspot has already defeated another hit show in Fox’s The Resident that has a very devoted following. Consider that battle this show proving its mettle and preparing for what is set to unfold next.
