Is The Voice new tonight? Behind NBC’s schedule swap
It’s a strange situation, after all, for NBC to not be broadcasting The Voice on Tuesdays, mostly because it’s been such a fixture there in-season for the better part of the past few years. The problem — or really, it’s a decision more so than a problem — is that the network is going to be broadcasting Ellen’s Game of Games rather than The Voice for the immediate future. They want to change things up a little and we do get it given that this is a way to change up the schedule … and also try to reduce burnout on The Voice as much as they can. You are asking a LOT of your viewers to check out three or four hours of programming a week for a big chunk of the year.

For those worried that this is going to be a permanent thing on NBC, don’t be — Tuesday shows for The Voice will return eventually, and things are going to go back to the way that they were before too long. Things are just being shaken up for the time being.
So what will you see when the show comes back on the air? Think in terms of a few simple, entertaining things.
1. More blind auditions – The teams are not entirely full just yet! Because of that, we’ll see some more performances, more posturing, and hopefully more big personalities. All of these need to come together in a sense of relative harmony for this show to ultimately work out.
2. More coach ridiculousness – Obviously, we’re going to see more instances of people trying to pry a country artist from Blake, or to try and steal a pop-rock performer from Adam. These are the little moments in the blinds that stand out, largely because you don’t want to see the same thing, over and over and over again on repeat. It gets tiresome and 16 seasons in, you really have to find ways for the show to stand out at all costs.
3. More comeback artists – While we haven’t seen an artist from this show burst onto The Voice scene and deliver some sort of super-huge impact, that has to happen eventually. Maybe at some point, we’re going to see an artist with zero chair-turns end up making it really far. Wouldn’t that be fun?
