The Good Doctor season 2 finale spoilers: The first details surface
Note that the information within this article was officially released by the network — i.e., they’re more than happy to have it out there. Yet, if you’re super-sensitive to spoilers, you may want to steer clear (we are not a very spoilery site, but sometimes there are some to share). We do still recommend checking out our video below, which has some discussion from earlier this season. Ready to start the finale discussion? Let’s do it! We’re kicking things off with the official episode description from “Trampoline,” which is airing on Monday, March 11:
As a barroom fight sends Dr. Shaun Murphy to seek treatment at St. Bonaventure’s, Dr. Alex Park and Dr. Audrey Lim disagree over an elderly woman’s post-operative symptoms. Meanwhile, Dr. Neil Melendez and Dr. Lim make their romance public, and Dr. Aaron Glassman continues to pursue a relationship with a good friend.
The big takeaways
1. Things aren’t looking great for Shaun – The unfortunate situation is that he’s a vulnerable person. Because of his struggles with social conventions, he is susceptible to confrontations and getting in over his head. If he says the wrong thing to someone at a bar, it could lead to violent, terrible consequences even though it is not his intention. Will he be able to successfully take treatment from his colleagues? That’s a challenge in itself, given how doctors are often the worst patients and that may certainly be the case here.
2. Dr. Melendez and Dr. Lim are serious – Certainly, you have a good sense of that from the past few episodes, but this is still a big step! This is the top of them declaring to the hospital community “we want to make this last,” and there will be ramifications over it, as there often are with workplace relationships. There could be questions about judgment, about treatment, and also about what happens in the event they ever do break up. From an administrative standpoint, these are likely thoughts rolling around within someone’s head.
3. Dr. Glassman needs love! – Seriously, just think about the emotional meat-grinder that this guy has been put through over the season. We didn’t know if he was going to survive for most of it, and he’s now in a spot where he seemingly is getting better. He’s an isolated person in so many ways — he doesn’t have an enormous group of friends to pick from and there’s a void in his heart that needs to be filled. Shaun may be there for him, but there’s still something else missing. This is Glassman’s opportunity, and we’ll be standing on the sidelines cheering him on!
4. Dr. Park and Dr. Lim clash – It’s harder to tease up a case-of-the-week story without context, but let’s just hope there is a twist that allows it to stand out from the rest. This is the finale, after all!
