Prison Break season 6 still in development; the wait continues
Yet, it does actually seem as though progress may be happening behind the scenes … but it’s slow process. In a new post on Instagram, series actor Dominic Purcell confirmed that the show is still in development behind the scenes, but did not have any more information to offer at this point. We know that he and many other cast members may have an interest in coming back and playing these characters once again, and unsurprisingly so. Prison Break was a global phenomenon when it first there, and while the ratings for the season 5 revival were not off the charts, it still fared reasonably well. The show also has tremendous DVR potential and beyond that, a huge audience all over the world.
Basically, Prison Break can be the gift that keeps on giving for networks that decide to give it a go, provided that they find the right way in which to bring it back.
One of the reasons for the long wait may just be trying to make sure that the story is perfected, and then also trying to make sure that everyone’s schedule lines up at the same time. Dominic, for example, if a cast member on Legends of Tomorrow, so it is pretty hard for him to get on board another network TV series unless it works out with his already-established schedule. Back for season 5, they also had to do the same thing in accommodating Wentworth Miller and then also Sarah Wayne Callies. It’s also why there are only so many episodes that can be made at one time.
So when is the next time we could actually hear tangible information about the new version of Prison Break? Given that there wasn’t anything definitive at the Television Critics Association Winter press tour, we wouldn’t be surprised if it is still well more than six months out. This is going to be something that you’re going to have to sit around and wait for it, so we really hope that it is worth it.
