The World’s Best video: Dimash Kudaibergen shows off crazy vocal range

Dimash Kudaibergen

If you are located in certain parts of the world, you may be familiar with Dimash Kudaibergen. He’s an exceptional singer from Kazhakstan who has an exceptional vocal range, the likes of which we haven’t exactly seen much on American TV.

Now, we’re happy that he will have a big US television showcase on The World’s Best when the series airs on CBS Wednesday night — and you can also hear a small snippet of his performance below. The show will be pegging him the “Six-Octave Man” as a way to make him all the more instantly-memorable, and for good reason. The man is shockingly good, and we think that he is going to have a chance of going very far in this competition (even if it’s not entirely clear how the rest of the competition works just yet).

If his voice wasn’t impressive enough, Dimash also has one other thing going for him — the intense backdrop with the fire. His staging is intense, and he seems to know how to create the right environment to best suit his performance. We’re still getting a sense of how The World’s Best stages their acts, but they are allowing them to show off something reflective to either their personality or their talent.

What we are seeing here from Dimash perhaps more than anything else is a reminder of what makes this show incredible — there’s a chance for so many of us to learn about different talents who we potentially would not have heard about otherwise. Many American singing-show contestants out there are a little more predictable in style and song choice. Dimash is a breath of fresh air in that way, and the one disappointing thing is that the sneak preview below is so short that we don’t get to see too much of his performance. We also do wish that we could get a chance to know a little more about him himself, given that this show is the first time we’re really getting to be exposed to his talent.

Rest assured, we’ll be back tomorrow night to chronicle the performance of Dimash and everyone else — also, come Wednesday morning there will be an exclusive CarterMatt interview with Matt Johnson, otherwise known as the Drowning Man from the first episode who was the subject of a great cliffhanger.
