Should Netflix hype Lucifer season 4, Designated Survivor at Super Bowl?
Lucifer – We’d absolutely love it if Netflix featured their new acquisition, even if it was just part of a larger trailer showcasing many upcoming releases. We don’t necessarily think that they will, just because it’s still an unproven commodity to them on an international level, but it would help to give them a rather-nice boost moving forward.
Stranger Things 3 – Netflix has used the big game as a launching pad for it before, so why not try to do that again?
Designated Survivor – We think the Super Bowl audience is compatible with the audience for this show, but it may just be too early to promote it given that it’s still filming, and probably will not release until the summer. (Sure, Stranger Things is also premiering in July, but it has more of an established base.)
13 Reasons Why – This is a big enough show to justify there being a commercial for it during the big game, but you do have to wonder whether or not this is precisely the right audience for it. Why do this here?
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina – This show has been a huge hit seemingly for them since it was unveiled, so you can probably make an argument towards having an ad for it — though we have the same audience questions here that we did with 13 Reasons Why.
Narcos: Mexico – It’s the perfect demographic, but it’s much too early for any promotion.
Orange Is the New Black – With this being the final season, it seems like the perfect platform to give some more information all about it.
The OA – Maybe this is the right time to deliver some news on the long-in-development second season? Netflix loves their surprises, so there’s a case to be made for them secretly dropping episodes tonight and announcing it during the Super Bowl.
Ultimately, we’d be surprised if there’s more than just one or two Netflix ads — if that. Nonetheless, this certainly is something we’re keeping watch on at the moment.

Of course, we’re going to be around for more discussion of the Super Bowl later tonight, so keep your eyes peeled and stay tuned for some more news. (Photo: Netflix.)
