The Orville season 2 episode 6 return date: Prepare for ‘Deflectors’
The bad news that we have to report on right now is pretty simple: There’s no new episode of the Seth MacFarlane series next week. Why? Fox is giving its Thursday-night lineup a breather, but there still is not all that much of an alternate explanation beyond that.
What we know at the moment is this: The next new episode of the series is airing on Thursday, February 14, and the title for it is “Deflectors.” There’s not too much more in the way of information out there at the moment. Fox did release a press release for the episode, but they said absolutely nothing about the story — no synopsis at all, other than a reminder for everyone to watch.
How surprising is this? Well, we wouldn’t say that it really is when you think about the way in which The Orville tends to promote itself. This is a show that does like to surround itself in secrecy, and for good reason. So much of this show is about wonder and the element of surprise. You often don’t know what is coming from one episode to the next and there’s a little bit of joy in that. It allows the viewers to really become immersed in some of the imagination and surprise of each story. They each feel like their own separate movie, and sometimes in television, we do get spoiled with all of the well… spoilers that are out there.
What’s mostly worth noting is that on the other side of this episode, we could be seeing the first two-part episode of the entire month. The title for that episode is “Identity: Part 1,” and Fox hasn’t released any information for that episode, either. We just hope that these episodes are going to be as interesting and as fun as what we saw tonight. Very few shows can pull something off like an entire episode all about Claire falling in love with a robot, but this one does — it’s funny at times, but also emotional and surprisingly profound at others. It does, from start to finish, bring a lot of great storytelling to the table.
