For those who love Fin episodes of Law & Order: SVU, season 20 episode 15 (airing on February 14) is going to be right up your alley. This episode, entitled “Brothel,” will be a chance for Ice-T’s character to team up with someone from his past. What is interesting about this is that anytime you mention Fin’s past — and it’s something that we haven’t seen on the show before — you’re effectively having to go back a good couple of decades.

There’s a chance that you read some of the reports already stating that Blue Bloods and NCIS alum Jennifer Esposito will be appearing in an episode of this show; this is going to be the episode in which you see her, where all signs point to her being the person with ties to Fin’s past. For some more insight, check out the SVU season 20 episode 15 synopsis that CarterMatt has for you below:

02/14/2019 (10:00PM – 11:00PM) (Thursday) : Fin (Ice T) teams up with an old colleague to track down the proprietor of a pop-up brothel. Also starring Mariska Hargitay, Kelli Giddish and Peter Scanavino. Guest starring Jennifer Esposito (Sgt. Phoebe Baker), Baylen Thomas (Collum O’Connor), Adrian Alvarado (Carlos Ramirez), John Rothman (Judge Kofax) and Jenna Stern (Judge Barth).

Anytime we can learn about Fin’s past separate from the team is an opportunity worth taking; it also makes sense at this particular point in the story to take a look at some individual stories for a number of the show’s cast. With Rollins likely on maternity leave for a little while, giving some other characters big stories is a good way to help compensate for her absence — though there’s certainly no replacing her. There’s also still a good bit more we have to learn about Fin despite him being such a staple of this show. It wasn’t that long ago, after all, that we first saw the guy’s house! If that’s not an indication that there is still a lot that we have to learn, we don’t know what is.

On the other side of this episode, let’s hope that there are some great individual ones for Mariska Hargitay and Peter Scanavino — there’s always a good bit of Benson in every episode, but we do like those stories that separate her from the field and have her pushing herself to the limit. Meanwhile, it just feels like it’s been a while since we’ve got a great Carisi episode where there is a story on his family or anything else. It feels like high time to try to fix that.
