Pearson trailer: First look at Suits spin-off with Gina Torres

Come later this year, the Suits spin-off Pearson is going to be coming on the air and it certainly has the makings to be one of the best new shows this year. After all, how could it not with Gina Torres front and center as Jessica Pearson?

If you look at the video below, you can get a pretty good sense as to precisely what is coming up on this new version of the series. As you may remember from the season 7 finale, Jessica is now in Chicago, and she’s getting into the difficult, ugly world of local politics. She understands what she brings to the table in this world — she’s brilliant, confident, and knows how to navigate any difficult legal water. She’s also had enough time to recharge her batteries and because of that, she’ll probably be capable of diving into this situation with a fresh set of eyes.

While on the surface Pearson may not be an ideal name for the spin-off, at the same time there is something to like about it when you dive a little bit deeper. The best thing that USA can do at this point is try to market this show as almost its own thing, totally separate from Suits. You’re going to get some of those viewers watching regardless, but in the process you’re probably going to discover some new people at the same time. This is really going to be the thing that gets a lot of viewers watching and hopefully addicted to this show — you want to ensure that that there are constant opportunities in order to ensure that more and more viewers are watching.

Now, we just need some sort of formal premiere date — with the final ten episodes of Suits season 8 coming this summer, we have a feeling that it would make the perfect companion to the spin-off. That helps to get it off to a great start and, to go along with that, it’ll ensure that Suits viewers are at least familiar with it. That should be good enough while some other viewers get on board.
