Gotham season 5 episode 4 preview: ‘Ruin’ brings Gordon, Penguin together

Gotham

Gotham season 5 episode 4 is coming up on Fox next week and based on what we’re hearing, this one will feature unexpected characters working together! While there is a clear distinction between good and evil with a show like this, there are occasions in which it is deemed necessary for both sides to work together. When it comes to this particular installment, the merits of doing this stem from everyone trying to get to the bottom of recent events around Haven.

On some twisted level, Gordon and Penguin both want the same thing: For Gotham to be okay. Of course, Oswald wants Gotham’s restoration so that it can fill his own pockets, but sometimes you have to deal with a devil you know in order to work on a much larger devil … or so it seems. This episode will feature many different villains who could be a part of Gordon and Oswald’s endgame.

Below, CarterMatt offers up the official Gotham season 5 episode 4 synopsis with some more information as to what’s ahead:

Gordon and Penguin are forced to work together and alliances are shaken when Lucius, Nygma and Barbara all have different ideas of the culprit behind recent events at Haven. Meanwhile, Selina continues her quest for revenge against Jeremiah (guest star Cameron Monaghan) in the all-new “Ruin” episode of GOTHAM airing Thursday, Jan. 24 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (GTH-504) (TV-14 L, V)

Jeremiah’s presence is almost the monster lurking behind every shadow — even when you don’t see him on the show, you know that he’s still there and that he has to be dealt with. He’s one of the most-dangerous people on the show just because he’s so intelligent, but then also so immoral at the same time. He doesn’t really care what he’s doing so much as whether or not it actually serves his endgame: Destruction, especially when it comes to Bruce Wayne. In a lot of ways, he’s already won in that he was able to take down the city using his bombs; Bruce is just one of his loose ends, and this is a part of him that he may not be able to shake.

Could Selina actually hurt him? For now, it’s certainly something to be concerned about, largely due to the fact that she’s a more evolved version of herself than before. Thanks to Ivy’s root, she’s stronger and more capable of tapping into her inner Catwoman than ever before.
