Supergirl season 4 episode 10 trailer: A Nia Nal costume tease & Kara’s new conflict

Supergirl season 4 episode 3

With Supergirl season 4 episode 10 arriving on The CW come Sunday night, the network is doing a good job setting the stage for what lies ahead. Suffice it to say it does feel (based on the new trailer below) like we’re gearing up for an especially-exciting batch of episodes!

All of this is going to begin now with the winter premiere, which is a chance to dive into some conflicts that are totally different from anything that we’ve had a chance to see before. After all, there hasn’t really been an occasion before now in which Supergirl’s secret identity has really been a problem. She’s done her job and, for the longest time, that was enough to keep everyone happy. That’s changing now, mostly because of Colonel Haley’s desperation to learn the truth. She doesn’t seem to love the fact that Supergirl is continuing to save people even without working for the DEO. In our mind, it’s a shot to her ego and she may be making it seem as though the DEO can’t hold a candle to some of what she can do. (We have a feeling that Alex is probably still helping her — in secret, anyway.)

The most cryptic part of this new trailer is seeing Haley in the closing seconds proclaim to Supergirl that “Kara Danvers’ life is over.” The assumption to make here is that at this point, she knows the truth about who Supergirl really is. Yet, we also don’t want to jump to conclusions! What is fascinating about this struggle though, is that Colonel Haley isn’t evil. Fundamentally, she wants the same thing that Supergirl does — to make the world better and safer for everyone, humans and aliens alike. She just has some ideological differences from Kara and Alex as to how to make that happen, and she feels like it’s actually valuable for everyone to have full transparency about who is wearing the cape and saving much of humanity.

Other notable moments in the trailer

For starters, how about the fact that Nia Nal does seem to have a costume now? That’s something teased by Brainy, who continues to spend time with her and encourages her to have a larger part in saving the world. (Interestingly, Supergirl has not actually released some sort of official image of Nia as Dreamer, something that they often tend to do for many of their different characters.) If you like the Nia – Brainy relationship, rest assured there’s a lot of that coming.

Before you go, we also suggest taking a first look at Grey’s Anatomy alum Kate Burton playing the part of Nia’s mother!
