Daredevil season 4: Charlie Cox endorses ever-growing petition to save show
It’s been many weeks now since Daredevil was canceled over at Netflix, but it is more clear than ever that fans are not giving up.
Not only that, but the cast of the series is also getting involved in the behind-the-scenes efforts to save the show more than ever before. Speaking (via ComicBook.com) at ACE Comic Con earlier this weekend, series star Charlie Cox did his part to endorse the petition to bring the show back — one that has already been celebrated by his co-stars Vincent D’Onofrio and others:
“I found out the other day there’s this petition, #SaveDarevil … You can sign it. Sign it!”
Typically, internet petitions are the sort of thing that require a really large number of signatures in order to move the needle, mostly because executives are under no obligation to listen to them. It’s nice when shows are able to get a few thousand signatures on them, but that more than likely is not going to make a difference in the grand scheme of things. It’s a little bit different when you start to see these said petitions pull in numbers that surpass 50,000 or even 100,000. At the time of this writing, the petition to save Daredevil now has more than 175,000 signatures to its name. That is a freakishly large number and that makes it impossible to ignore.
As for whether or not this will actually get the show a fourth season, that’s something that is very much up in the air. The biggest issue that Daredevil has at the moment is just finding the right home for it. The cancellation of the show by Netflix is one that seems to be subject to a number of different conspiracy theories, and with that, it’s hard to determine if they would want to pick it up again. Nonetheless, we do think that there could be some other interested parties out there.
We would say that if there is one thing helping Daredevil and its future right now more than anything else, it’s quality. The third season of the Marvel adaptation was by far the strongest — the performance by Cox and the rest of the cast were on another level, and it also seemed like the show had finally figured things out from a showrunning point of view.
