In the new video below, you can see Terry Crews talk a little bit about the excitement that he has to come on board the show this year as the man in charge — he talks about how it’s been a staple in his household for a while now and how thrilled he is to be a part of it. Personally, we’re thrilled to have him on hoard, largely because the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star is hilarious and at the same time relatable and interesting. He’s going to be willing to mix it up with the contestants while also still understanding what it means to hos this show and the responsibilities that go along with that.
Because of the reports that are out there that Tyra Banks may be leaving America’s Got Talent before the start of next season, there is another question that you have to wonder about the future of the franchise. Could Terry end up becoming a full-time host? We do think that this is an option that is still on the table, but so are many others. It’s going to be a little bit of time before NBC has to decide on the future of the hosting gig in the first place; with that in mind, go ahead and consider this a trial run for Crews to see how he does. (Given shooting schedules, we do think that it is possible that Terry could appear on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and also host America’s Got Talent — in the event that this is something that that needs to happen.)
The basic premise of America’s Got Talent: The Champions is largely the same as any other that we’ve come to see over time. The main difference is that everything is pre-taped, many of the acts are familiar, and the grand champion here can almost consider themselves to be the champion of the global Got Talent franchise as opposed to just one.
