The missions themselves – One of the things that we think that this series has done such a great job at is balancing out some of the excellent mission-of-the-week storylines with larger ones. It creates a sense of unpredictability, that you don’t know entering a given episode as to how long the mission will last. Through the show’s January run, we’d like to see some individual missions and then something larger once it returns from its February hiatus in March, when it airs at a new timeslot in 10:00 p.m. Eastern.
A specific adversary – This is a part of what made the Andres Doza storyline work — it wasn’t just about taking down some terrorist organization or cartel. You had one specific person who was effectively the Big Bad and you could work towards a showdown. If you know and understand the opponent, this series is infinitely more compelling.
For Jason – Why is he so much more comfortable in the field than at home? We do think that this is something that the show needs to still dive into further given that there’s so much meat still on this bone. His family life is also something that’s not going to get any easier.
For some other characters – We do think that it’s sink-or-swim time for the Clay / Stella storyline, and we’d like to see it evolve in some shape or form before we get around to the finale. Meanwhile, we also want to see even more stories for Mandy, largely because there’s still a lot of untapped potential with Jessica Pare on this show. We don’t think we need to keep referencing Mad Men as a reminder of how great she is.
Some sort of cliffhanger – While we are certainly nervous about the show’s season 3 odds, we’re cautiously optimistic enough at the moment to encourage the writers to deliver some sort of epic season 3 tease at the end of the finale. Even if the show does not return for some reason, we can always just imagine that the team makes it through whatever it is fine on the other side.
