We think that the depiction of SEAL Teams is often that of groups quietly doing missions on their own without any help from external forces and while we certainly understand that, at the same time it’s not necessarily an accurate depiction of everything that they do. So many missions are done in collaboration with other military groups and covert operations — on this particular episode, you’ll see Bravo Team working alongside the British Special Air Service. The two are working in tandem to stop a crisis happening in mid-air involving a passenger plane and terrorists who are trying to negotiate for the release of some of their members.
One part of the problem going into this mission is just sorting out the particulars, given that there are going to be some different perspectives as to how exactly the case should be handled. Should the British team or the American one be running the show? Beyond just that, it’s about determining the severity of the demand and then working overtime to see if there is a non-violent way to solve the problem. If not, then force has to be used and things could get complicated, given the situation.
Basically, this mission is a reminder that there are not many opportunities for the Bravo team to really take a moment to breathe … though for some, they may actually prefer it this way. One of the recurring themes that we have seen with this show as of late is that these characters often know how to handle themselves a little bit better when they are fighting in the field than they do back at their home base.
Signs point at present to this episode (entitled “Backwards in High Heels”) being somewhat standalone in nature, which should offer up a little bit of contrast to much of what we saw on this past arc with Andres Doza and everything that was going on there. A part of the intrigue with this show is that they continue to find a way to change the format and shake up the story; sometimes, it’s best to keep you guessing so you don’t know the larger-scale impact of a mission going into it. That has to be true, on some level, to life.
