Dancing with the Stars: Juniors: Who was eliminated leading into finals?

DWTS Juniors

Who was eliminated leading into the Dancing with the Stars: Juniors finale? Well, be prepared for a surprise.

As it turns out, the ABC ballroom competition (which is still ongoing even though the flagship show has been over for a while) opted to not send anyone home. With that in mind, it means that Ariana Greenblatt, Sky Brown, Miles Brown, and Mackenzie Ziegler are all still left to compete for the grand prize at the end of all of this.

So of that group, who is the favorite? If you’re going on pure ability, it’s easy to say Ziegler — she scored fantastically tonight and from the onset of this series, it was easy to label her the consensus favorite. Of course, she’s also the most polarizing contender given her past knowledge of dance and performance, and we know that for many purists of the show, they find a lot of that frustrating. (Consider this one of the reasons why Bobby Bones won this past Dancing with the Stars season — he was someone who, despite not having the most skill, connected really well with the public. To be fair, though, the Juniors competition is judged differently and this may not matter anywhere near as much.)

The nice thing about this season is that no matter where you really look in the competition, it’s hard to come up with almost any reason to complain. There are great contenders all across the board with a wide array of talents, and this is a show that is so lighthearted and celebratory in nature that it would be extremely hard to be angry about anyone who wins. This is a series designed to be even lighter and cheerier than the flagship version of the show, which has a fairly lighthearted tone in its own right.

Keeping four contestants around for the finale does feel in some ways fitting for the series’ tone, but beyond just that, we do think that there is a larger advantage that the show has here: Basically, it does give the producers a chance to not have to rely as much on filler or push three contestants to the limit. The competition as a whole is just a whole lot easier to manage when you’ve got a greater percentage of people to check it out.

As for the future beyond this season…

That’s something that we’ll have to wait and see on to a certain extent. Nonetheless, we do remain hopeful that there will be more Dancing with the Stars: Juniors, given that it is fairly low-cost and fun as a whole.
