Doctor Who season 11 episode 9 video: The mystery in Norway

What does that even mean? Well, the title is spoken at least on a couple of occasions in the preview below, which definitely does take the cake for being one of the more visually-attractive ones we’ve seen just for the setting alone. The Doctor and her friends have found themselves in Norway now, where they are going to encounter someone who seems to be hiding from a dangerous being — and that’s really all that they give you. This seems to be a good old-fashioned monster mystery episode, which for us is something that we personally welcome in just about every way that we possibly can.
Do we think that there are some elevated expectations on this episode? If there is, it is probably just because of the fact that we are so close to the end of the season and that is where some expectations do tend to rise through the roof. Beyond just that, we do understand that the sentiment has been a little bit mixed throughout most of season 11 to date … but we do think that this is something that we’ve experienced almost for every Doctor Who season since the early days of Matt Smith. This is just the sort of show that tends to draw a lot of reactions across the board when it is on, only for after the fact people to start appreciating it in a way that they really should. We do think that this season has had some really high highs, but we do think that it does need a little bit more humor so that when it does get serious it has an even greater weight and impact than it would if everything is a little more similar tonally.
Basically, the more variety that you get within a show like this, the better end product you’re going to get a chance to look at. Let’s just hope that Doctor Who itself both follows and celebrates this trend throughout what is coming up within this installment. Otherwise, you’re going to be waiting for the finale … and then maybe the New Year’s Special that will be coming up down the line after that.
