At the start of the episode, there was certainly a reason to worry about the Jack character. After all, at the start of the episode you had a chance to see the Jack character with his life on the line and even hospitalized. He was trying so hard in order to have a better life and a better future and with that in mind, this predicament was rather unfortunate. Eventually, though, the Winchesters were able to get him out of there against medical advice. Yet, that didn’t guarantee much of anything.
So how could the Winchesters actually hear him? The brothers went to Rowena in hopes of getting some answers but, unfortunately, they couldn’t get all of their necessary info as soon as they wanted. This was an episode that, at least in part, revolved around the quest to figure out a way to cure him. Yet, before getting around to that, we also saw a few other touching moments in here — including Jack determining that he wanted to have a little bit of time in order to live as a human. That gave us a rather-touching moment with him and Dean. In the midst of everything crazy that happens within the world of Supernatural, this was a nice moment of humanity. That was especially needed given the fact that Jack’s condition went from bad to worse by the end of the episode.
What happened to the guy? Well, it turned out that the Shaman Castiel sought help from actually didn’t help at all … he just gave them an experimental roadmap and there was nothing that Rowena could do in order to help.
The episode tonight ended with the reality that Jack was still dying … which we have to accept now as a possibility even if we don’t want to. It’s a worthy cliffhanger for next week — we’re still not ready to buy into the idea that Calvert is leaving!
Nick’s story
Nick is a psychopath. Yet, apparently this was a story about him trying to justify and understand the darkness and pain that lies within him. We don’t think that we’re anywhere near to close at the moment to figuring this guy or his demons out, but we did enjoy his “I liked it!” speech that felt like Oliver Queen when Prometheus confronted him back on Arrow season 5.
