The Conners episode 7 preview: A look ahead to ‘Hold the Salt’

Want to know what’s coming on The Conners episode 7? The title here is “Hold the Salt” and based on early expectations, Christmastime is already here! On some level, this will be a holiday episode … or at least be about the holiday shopping season. It’s a time where there is many a person out there who perhaps goes overboard purchasing gifts and that may be very much what happens here.

Dan questions Peter’s motives when he learns about the pricey Christmas gift that Jackie purchased for her new, unemployed beau. Meanwhile, Darlene receives dating advice from an unlikely source.

Basically, it seems like this episode is going to be very much about Dan doing everything that he can in order to be protective of everyone who is close to him. We do need a certain degree of awareness here given that often, there are bad people who could use people for their own gain and this could be just a small slice of what we end up seeing the rest of the season. Probably the craziest thing when it comes to The Conners at the moment is that we’re already so far into the season! This show was given a pretty short run by ABC at the start of the season and, despite its good ratings, we think that it was locked-in to not having the typical 22-episode run.

Therefore, we feel like the writers are going to cram in as much material as humanly possible into a fairly-short period of time. We hope that this one is fun, but at the same time, that there’s still something more coming that is holiday-related. There is one more episode coming on the other side of this installment and that will hopefully prove to be a full-fledged story about the holidays. That’s something that we haven’t gotten from the show to date, largely due to the fact that The Conners originally started as Roseanne earlier this year — past the point where there could be any holiday celebrations at all.

So long as you’re in the spirit for celebrating, we do at least think there are a few different things ahead that you’ll be happy with in terms of what The Conners does … though there will also be plenty of bittersweet moments, as well. This is a show that does like to hand down a wide array of different stories per episode, with many of them timely and relatable.
