Arrow season 7 episode 7 preview: Is Oliver getting out of prison?

Arrow

There’s a pretty good reason to think that Arrow season 7 episode 7 could be the biggest episode of the season. After all, the title here is “The Slabside Redemption,” and the reference to Shawshank is very much noted.

Over the course of this particular hour, the principal thing we should expect to see is clear: Oliver at least trying to find his way out of prison. There was only so long that this character could stay there and fight to stay alive almost every week — this is a show about him out on the street in Star City and in all honesty, we’re shocked that they have kept him behind bars for as long as they have. It felt like freeing him was a must before the Elseworlds crossover began and now, we’re well on the road to getting there.

If Oliver does get out, the safest thing to possibly assume here is that it’s not going to be easy. It will be a bloodbath getting him from point A to point B, and he has to recognize the possibility that in order for this to happen and for him to be a free man, there is a reasonably good possibility that there are some other people who are going to get caught in the crossfire.

Below, CarterMatt has the full Arrow season 7 episode 7 synopsis with a little bit more insight into what is coming up:

JAMES BAMFORD DIRECTS AN EPIC EPISODE – Oliver (Stephen Amell) makes a choice that will affect his entire life, as well as the lives of everyone he cares about. James Bamford directed the episode written by Jill Blankenship & Rebecca Bellotto (#707). Original airdate 11/26/2018.

There is still one more episode following “The Slabside Redemption,” so consider season 7 episode 8 to be the proper midseason finale. What this series is doing is a little bit different than in past years with the crossovers. This time around, it seems as though the writers are almost treating the event as its own separate thing, one that really doesn’t have anything to do with anything. It’s basically just akin to its own standalone movie featuring a number of familiar characters. Hopefully, it’ll be entertaining and a nice little diversion, especially since it is taking a normal episode away from each one of the shows involved. (Remember that Legends of Tomorrow is not losing an episode due to the crossover; it is still getting a chance to air a proper episode next month at that time … or at least one that is as proper as it can be for a show like this.
