Poldark season 4 episode 7 video (PBS): Ross, Adderley’s duel

In the promo below, you can get a small sense of what lies ahead. On the surface, it seems like we’re on the cusp of a wonderful, idyllic vacation for Ross and Demelza as the two characters have some time to themselves in London town. Demelza will get to experience the many charms of the city in a way that she hasn’t before. Everything could start out quite wonderful on the surface, but it certainly will not end that way.
This is where we get to Monk Adderley. There are a few different things we know about this character: He’s aggressive, he loves the ladies, and he loves stirring the pot almost as much as he loves the ladies. He will find an opportunity within this episode to get under Ross’ skin and from there, things go from bad to worse. All of this culminates in a duel that could end up costing one of them their lives … and Adderley has killed men before in such a fashion. This is something that Ross feels like he needs to do for honor, but does he really? Isn’t there another way? It certainly feels like that on the surface, but there are a few other things that may properly determine that further down the line.
If there is one word that we would use to describe this hour going into it, it’s this: Tumultuous. There will be high points and opportunities to smile, but there are others where you’ll be screaming at your TV. All of this is building towards an epic finale where the lives of many will no longer be the same. That includes characters like George Warleggan and Drake Carne, who we haven’t mentioned to date but who are going to have a lot of important events take place over the next two hours. (With at least one of these stories, there’s a good chance that your jaw will be hanging on the floor by the end of the finale … though maybe not, if you are familiar with the books.)
Following the conclusion of season 4, that’s when the long wait begins. Season 5 is filming now, but it likely will not air in the United States until the fall of 2019. All indications suggest that it will mark the end of the series’ super-impressive run.
