Absentia season 2 premiere date: Is it best to be in the summer?

Let’s kick off this article with a rather-simple reminder: We aren’t going to be getting any Absentia season 2 premiere-date news for some time. There’s no reason to announce it, especially with the season filming as of late over in Europe. It’s going to be a while before even the first whispers start to surface. It’s already been over a year since the Stana Katic premiered in some countries; as of next year, we will be able to say the same here in America.

So could it actually be prudent for the series to wait until summer 2019 for a launch in America? There is of course that part of our brain that screams “NO!” at the idea, mostly because one of the last things that we want to have to do is wait for a super-long time in order to see a series we really love. Yet, we’re also someone who likes to think here in practical terms. It makes sense to wait in order to get the show on at a time when there is less competition out there, when there is a much-larger piece of the pie.

Just think back now to the first season. While we do think that it got the attention of many, it had to air amidst awards season, Super Bowl hype, and February sweeps for all of the major networks. There was so much happening that it was hard for the series to get much of a piece of the pie. If we had it our way, we’d premiere Absentia on Amazon right around Labor Day Weekend or prior to the Fourth of July — times when there aren’t a whole lot of programming elsewhere. People love to watch marathons around this time, so why not sit back and binge-watch something totally new and addictive?

Now that we know that Amazon is going to be the streaming home for season 2, here’s to hoping that they are thoughtful in considering premiere-date options for the show.
