Hawaii Five-0 200th episode promo: Go back in time with Steve, Danny

Next week, the Hawaii Five-0 200th episode is going to offer you a chance to see something totally different.

In the promo below, you can see what is the jumping-off point for the entirety of the milestone hour: An unsolved mystery from many decades before, one that is somehow tied to Steve McGarrett’s grandfather and presumably also legendary Honolulu detective Chang Apana. Showrunner Peter M. Lenkov told CarterMatt earlier this year that Apana’s story is one that he has wanted to tell for a good while now and this serves as an interesting way to tell it.

We’re going to see several characters go back in time — but they won’t quite be playing themselves. Instead, you’re going to see over the course of this episode many of them take on a whole-new personality — seemingly, the most fun out of any of the preview glimpses we have in here is of Tani Rey as some sort of singer from the era. Suffice it to say, this should be fun.

If going back in time isn’t your thing, also remember that there are some other appealing things about this particular episode, as well. Take, for example, the fact that Steve and Danny’s restaurant will open its doors in some capacity in this episode. This has been a long time coming and we’re going to get a good sense now as to what the food looks like and whether or not the place gets any great reviews. Odds are, there are going to be a few bumps in the road — heck, there is no guarantee that it even gets off of the ground. It definitely feels like it should, though, mostly because we’ve invested this much time in this particular story. It’d be a shame to not see it get off the ground at all.
