House of the Dragon season 3: Rhaenyra, Alicent trust issues

There are certainly a multitude of different storylines that could play out regarding House of the Dragon season 3 on HBO, but why not focus here on two of the foundational characters?

Even though there is no denying that the Game of Thrones prequel has a rather enormous cast, we recognize that a lot has been told through Rhaenyra and Alicent’s lenses. They form key components of both the Blacks and the Greens, even though they also do have a history that is impossible to ignore. The latter visited the former in secret at the end of season 2, so how do you forget about that? Can fences ever truly be mended?

Well, for the time being, let’s just say that fulfilling that may be quite difficult. Speaking on this further to TVLine, here is at least some of what Emma D’Arcy had to say regarding trust issues:

“I mean, I think it is hard for Rhaenyra to trust Alicent … Their history is a complicated one. That said, there is such momentum, I think, in Rhaenyra’s campaign at this point, really for the first time. She is in a strong military, strategic position, and the Greens’ defeat seems all but certain, certainly extremely possible, extremely likely.”

For Rhaenyra moving forward, we tend to think that a good bit of the narrative will be about trying to continue that momentum, even if it leads to more lives lost in the process. She is well-aware of potential casualties in the war, as are a number of other people, as well. We do not believe anything is going to shake her resolve for her end goal of Westeros; if that were to happen, wouldn’t it have by this point? Isn’t that at least something to consider?
