‘Shiptober 2018: Supercorp (from Supergirl) and Omelia (from Grey’s Anatomy) advance to final round
Over the course of the past several weeks, there have been a number of super-competitive showdowns between a number of fantastic duos. We’ve seen many close races, fandoms joining forces, and all sorts of ‘shipping fun to get us to this point.
In looking towards the finale (which begins on the morning of October 30), it absolutely seems like there could be yet another close battle — and what’s also exciting about it is that there are two underdogs who have fought their way to the top.
Supercorp – They are one of the most-popular ‘ships from within the world of Supergirl and their success in the tournament clearly shows. They’ve performed better than any other ‘ship to date and they’ve also withstood some tough competition. It’s not as though making it to the finale was a cakewalk by any means. They’ve defeated such competitors as Lyatt from Timeless, Malec from Shadowhunters, and also Jamie & Claire from within the world of Outlander. They’ve performed very well in every single round, but a very significant test lies ahead…
Omelia – The Grey’s Anatomy ‘ship has proven time and time again that they are worthy of more attention in a broader sense. They’ve upset many a strong competitor including Clary and Jace from Shadowhunters, Densi from NCIS: Los Angeles, Wayhaught from Wynonna Earp, and most-recently McDanno from Hawaii Five-0. If that was not impressive enough, they’ve managed to do all of this despite starting off as a #5 seed.
At this point, it almost doesn’t matter which ‘ship emerges at the end of all of this given that both of them have quite a bit to celebrate. These ‘ships have performed extremely well, and the hope here is that, if nothing else, these results can convince writers and showrunners to emphasize them even more on some level. Clearly, there is an eager audience out there who are interested in sinking their teeth into some juicy storylines featuring a number of these characters.
