Ray Donovan season 6 premiere: Is Ray back in business?
As it turns out, though, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to be altogether different from what it was in California — save, of course, for the setting. Sam Winslow is still around, and as it turns out, she needs his help once more. The difference here is that this is more of a politically-tinged case than one that has anything to do with the entertainment business. Sam wants Ray’s help in helping her chosen candidate for Mayor, who has found herself in a major crisis after she discovered, in the midst of having sex on a date, that her partner was actually video-taping her. She didn’t know anything about him, at least at first, and that’s why he was brought in. The implications of what could happen here are clear.
Well, things went from bad to worse when the man’s body turned up at the end of the episode. All of a sudden, there’s a pretty severe thing that Ray is going to have to deal with. This is a crisis that isn’t going to go away immediately, especially if more and more dots are connected. Because of this, and because of his addiction to the fixing game in general, we don’t think that Ray is going to be able to walk away from his old life at all.
To make matters worse for him, of course we imagine that Mickey is going to make things even harder once Ray and the other Donovans learn that he’s had a heart attack while behind bars. What they don’t realize at the moment is that said heart attack seemed to be self-inflicted, and this may be just another classic Mickey Donovan con. We’ve been wondering how he would be included given that he’s so far from New York City — we’ve got a pretty good idea of it now.
