Law & Order: SVU season 20 episode 7 video teases Sasha Alexander role

Who is Sasha Alexander playing on Law & Order: SVU season 20 episode 7 on NBC in one week’s time? We’re honestly surprised that her guest spot hasn’t received more attention. Alexander has been relatively under-the-radar when it comes to TV roles since her departure from Rizzoli & Isles and also her arc on Shameless. This series marks a chance for her to re-enter the limelight, and to take on what is, in the process, a rather notable story.

The promo below teases that this particular case is ripped from the headlines, and something that will shock many viewers. Just based on Benson’s reaction below, it almost tells you everything that you need to know. We know that the story revolves around a gruesome family murder, and Alexander seems to be playing the mother of said family — Benson refers the home that was broken into as hers. Alexander’s character notes that the only other person with a key to the home is the nanny.

While we’ve got a pretty good suspicion as to what happened in this case, it’s almost too difficult to write. SVU has taken on many a tough story, and we don’t want to get into the business of comparing one gruesome death or rape to another. Yet, it still has to be said that this could be one of the most difficult, emotional episodes we’ve seen in some time and that may have a big thing to do with Alexander’s casting. The producers may have wanted to secure someone who they knew could carry this particular source material and they knew she was capable.

Just get all of the necessarily tissues ready for this episode — it could be one where you really need then.
