Charmed episode 3 preview: The Halloween episode’s already here!

Typically, shows get a few episodes in the can before they start to think about a Halloween episode. The reboot of Charmed on The CW does not have that particular luxury. Because of when it premiered, episode 3 has to be the Halloween episode unless the writers wanted to do something strange and have it happen a little bit later than it should.

With all of this in mind, hopefully this episode proves to be a worthy celebration, even if at the moment we don’t know any of these characters altogether well! We’re going to have a chance in this episode to see how the sisters handle some of their early witch training — while also still trying to be somewhat ordinary, which they have a desire to do in their lives. (Doesn’t that make a certain degree of sense?) Let’s just hope that the show manages to keep some momentum and tow that not-so-easy line between paying homage to the original show and then, at the same time, finding a way to do your own thing and present your own signature style.

HALLOWEEN PARTY TIME – With the instruction of Harry (Rupert Evans), the sisters are put through witch lessons, so they are able to properly practice their magic. However, when Macy (Madeleine Mantock) learns of a mysterious death in her lab from Galvin (Ser’Darius Blain), she informs her sisters and together, they devise a plan to suss out the demon. Trying to speed the plan along, Mel (Melonie Diaz) uses her magic irresponsibly leaving Harry no choice but to constrain her, which creates tension between them. Meanwhile, Maggie (Sarah Jeffery) continues to struggle at balancing her two worlds – her sorority one and her witch one – especially after she volunteers to throw a Halloween party at her house. Ellen Tamaki and Nick Hargrove also star. Norman Buckley directed the episode written by Joey Falco (#103). Original airdate 10/28/2018
