Legends of Tomorrow season 4 premiere expectations: Evil unicorns + comedy
What’s one of the big reasons for that? It mostly has to do with the tone of it. This is not a series that takes itself altogether seriously, and it just runs amok with a crazy, wonderful sense of imagination. Just in the premiere episode alone, you’re going to see a homicidal unicorn, John Constantine become more immersed into the group of Legends, a hippie version of Mick Rory, and all sorts of other good stuff. We’ve also got this season an evil fairy godmother, a major Back to the Future callback, threatening puppets, and also Constantine is a possibly-drunk camp counselor. Basically, this is a show bringing you everything.

We don’t want to get fully immersed into the comedy here, though, since Legends is still a show with an emotional core. Entering season 4 Sara Lance is coming off the loss of her father Quentin, and she’s still trying to find her way in her personal life. Meanwhile, you also have Nate reeling from Amaya going back to her time and the entire team readjusting after Wally West decides not to join them again. There is also a larger threat out there, but it’s not entirely clear just what it is at the moment … not that it really matters. Mallus wasn’t exactly the most exciting villain in Arrowverse history but it didn’t matter. What made season 3 so great was the imaginative storytelling and the great performances from the cast, who fully embraced the insanity of this show.
