Absentia season 2: Stana Katic introduces the directors!
In a new post on Twitter (see below), you can see via Stana Katic some of the people who are going to be working to make this latest batch of episodes a success: Adam Sanderson, Oded Ruskin, and Kasia Adamik. For Ruskin, this is a return to the series he called home last year; he directed all ten episodes of the show’s first season. Directing is an intensive, time-consuming operation, and it’s not altogether often you end up seeing one person helm all ten episodes of a season. It’s a little bit more commonplace that you have a team of directors working in tandem to make sure that all episodes are perfect.
These three have been working for many an hour already in Bulgaria to make these episodes perfect, as filming has been going on for quite a while now. One of the things that we’ve certainly come to understand over time with Absentia is that they can do a lot in a relatively short period of time by TV standards, and they also find a way to make things as intense and exciting as possible. That includes at times filming at night, and it also includes some elaborate interior scenes that showcase a number of unique settings. Visually this series feels different than almost any other show out there, and in a number of different ways, that only adds to its appeal further.
The hardest thing about Absentia season 2 at this point is just waiting for it, given that we do not expect new episodes to officially launch until we get around to 2019. It could be potentially later in the year, but it feels a little reckless to start pinning dates down now given that we are still reasonably early in the process.
